NYC Part 2

Happy Saturday!!!!
So a week ago today I was in NYC reunited with people from three stages of my life! I got to spend my day with high school, college, and a friend from Denver/grad school!

We spent the day on a made up by me pub crawl aka we went to two bars! We started at Down the Hatch with is a ver college-y NYU bar that has great day drinking specials which is why I chose it!

SAM_0689My high school friends Lauren, Kendall and Dave joined us, as well as Lauren’s bf Bobby who I love! Dave actually lives in Nashville as well (obviously why I moved here) and it was great to hang out with him in NYC with our old friends in addition to seeing him all the time here!

After we all got to DTH and had a drink (or wings and a few beers in my case… SUCH GOOD WINGS) we headed to the Standard Biergarten! I can’t believe I never went here when I lived in NYC! It was like being in German Beer hall and I can only imagine how great it is in the summer!

SAM_0694Two of my best friends in college Erica and Emma joined us for the day as well, the visited me in Nashville a few weeks ago and it was so great to be able to see them again so soon!

SAM_0693and of course Twink and her brother! It was such a great day with good friends, good beer and good times! After the Standard my high school friends plus Emma and I went to Dos Caminos in Soho for dinner while Twink and her brother had dinner at the National and Erica went to an Ugly Sweater party! I love Dos Caminos it was always one of my favorite places and I haven’t been there since I graduated NYU!  I got the best fish tacos I have ever had… and now thinking about them I want some more…

After dinner, I headed back uptown to meet Twink and her bro to go see the Rockettes! I had never seen them before and I was not disappointed! This was such a great show and definitely added to the holiday spirit!

The next morning, Twink and I went to visit her brother’s school and then I left them to go meet Erica, Emma and my roommate/soulmate from college Nicole for bagels at Nicoles! She was unable to meet up with us on Saturday and I was so glad to get to see her.. and get Pick-A-Bagel because they are my favorite things ever.

SAM_0714It was definitely a jam packed weekend and I can’t wait till I get to go back! Needless to say I pretty much passed out as soon as I got home Sunday night and had adequate cuddles with the pup who was NOT happy that I left him… although Sarah spoils him pretty rotten!

Now I am off to see three clients and either christmas shop or take the pup to the dog park… I wonder which one will win haha

Better times they are a-coming

Goodness I HOPE this quote that I saw while i was running in CENTRAL PARK yesterday! While my weekend in NYC was fantastic and made me fell loved beyond belief, being back here just makes me feel alone for some reason. (writing this while  in my room with the door closed listening to emo music hahaha) I dunno I’m just being silly but I am just ready for something new and fun to happen, something hat will give my life a tad more depth? Basically I need a hobby other than school/munchkin/consulting/working out obsessively. Any suggestions?

So back to that run….I had quite the ambitious work out yesterday.. NYC does this to me! I went spinning at SOULCycle.. my favortie spin studio, and then ran 5.5 miles in Central Park! It was wonderful, god I miss that place… SO FREAKING MUCH…. I want to go back.. now…

Can you tell I’m having withdrawal?

So after my run/spin on Monday, I had a wonderful time shopping with Nicole (besto) where we came up with my future private practice… RETAIL THERAPY… am I right or am I right? One I would be great at this because I am awesome at helping people shop (thank you shopping addiction) and also you always talk to your friends about issues when you are shopping so why not make therapy more fun by doing it while shopping? Ok confidentiality MIGHT be an issue.. but hey I’m still working out the kinks… yes this from the Sports Psychology Consultant in training…. oops.

aaaand thennn we went to my favorite lunch place… Grey Dogs! If you live near NYU or Chelsea… GO NOW… it’s sooo goood! Sandwiches, burgers, breakfast, coffee, cool slightly hipster environment! AFter that we said goodbye.. tear, and I met my friend Lauren from HS for a Starbucks date! This was a back from college tradition with us until she moved to Houston this summer! It was so nice to catch up with her! We were both in NYC for our friend Lyndsey’s 23rd birthday Booze Cruise!

me and the birthday girl!!!

high school reunion! Lauren, Mark, and Me!

me and my friend Cara… on a boat!!!!

yes that is me… rapping I’m on a Boat… I know EVERY word… sad? possibly

After the cruise ended we met up with Nicole and her BF Will at my favorite bar in NYC, Brother Jimmys!

Best part of Bro J’s? The fishbowls! Athough they leave you with a serious sugar crash the next morning.. not much alcohol….. A LOT of fugar

Oh man I am the definition of a winner… do you know how many of these pictures I have? Like 800…. its ridiculous

Nicole and Will!!! soooo purdy

yea… winning… but look at all the cool straws!

Ahhh great night! It was the reason I wnet up, and it was definitely a TOP night! (anyone see that seen in Wedding Date where the cousin drunkenly yells that? no just me?)

On Sunday… brunch time!!! I’ve already described it so I will just share pics with you!

ahhhh so fun!!!! Thank you everyone for hosting me/ hanging out/ just being awesome!!!!
Now I’m back.. and it’s a little bit of a flat feeling… but oh well

On the bright side theres been a lot of good food today!

Wing Sauce Chicken Salad for lunch with homemade pita chips and guac!

And a very veggie pasta salad for dinner! I love pasta salad! It always reminds me of swim meets in middle school, because they would sell bomb pasta salad at the concession stands! I have been recreating it myself for sometime now and it s really easy!

Whole Wheat Fusili

Cucumbers (one whole cuke)

Peppers ( I used 1 orange one)

1 c slices grape tomatoes

Wishbone Light Italian dressing to taste!!

yumm so good! For a little extra protein I added some chicken sausage!!!

Ok off to do work.. bleh

Do you ever suffer post-trip blues?

What do your favorite foods remind you of?

I’m a catalyst!

Howdy!

I know…. its been two days… Im a bad blogger shame on me… I’m sorry its been gogogogogogogogogogo since I got here…. literally.

Can I just say this… I LOVE NYC….. i love it.. funny how eight months away gives you perspective! I have decided to apply to Columbia and Fordham! I miss it here… I know my freinds won’t be here forever and I don’t want to raise my family here, but I do miss it. Funny how nostalgia can make all the negative vanish ya?

I realized today though how loved I am! I don’t want to sound self-obsessed because I’m not, but 13 girls showed up at 10 am to have brunch with me today! 10 am… on a Sunday…. I didn’t even want to get up! It was amazing to me that everyone came to see me, and catch up! Thanks girls I’ve missed ya! We were joking today that none of them really see each other anymore, and it took me coming back to bring them back together… I’m a catalyst!

This has been a great weekend, tonight I spend 3 hours with the family I lived with in the Hamptons for two consecutive summers! Sadly I am not going this summer and I am actually really sad about it! I miss those two little boys so much!!! They really did become a family for me!

I came home and hung out with my bff Nicole and her bf Will! Now we are watching the news… can you believe Osama is dead?!?

ok Im exhausted and I am going spinning at 7:30!!!!! Cannot wait! More about this weekend later!

Do you ever miss your college town?

What is your favorite thing about NYC?

Oh to be a true Brit

I mean I basically am British- both my parents and baby bro have British citizenship….. so that extends to me too right? Silly university (or uni as we saw across the pond) getting in my way! But seriously I am whole heartedly thinking about hopping back over the pond post masters… I just love British people (on a good day, on a bad day when I get frustrated that everything closes at 5 and there is no Target, JCrizzle, Lilly, Bloomingdales, or drive thru Starbucks)

Today however I wanted to be in London SOOOO BAD!!!!! Tant pis instead of cuddling with my bff I was able to hang out with my friend Melissa at 2 am to watch E!’s coverage! OMG Guiliana Ransic is actually hilarious PS, like seriously some of her comments… had me cracking up. I was a little sad not to watch the Today show as I LOVE Meredith however you really can’t beat E! for stuff like this… the entertainment value is just so  much higher!

So basically as you can probably tell I am obsessed with the Royals… This stems from my love of history and the fact that I am fascinated by Royalty! I chalk it up to our lack of Royalty here!  From William the Conqueror to William Duke of Cambridge (Prince William) I am basically obsessed… I have read all the Phillipa Gregory books on Henry VIII as well as the War of the Roses, took a British studies class where basically we learned about the history of the Royal Family, visited countless castles (my favorite is the Tower…. it’s so cool) and basically just read a ton about the history of the Royal Family! There is just so much history, and it amazes me that William and Harry (my future hubby) can still read original letters from Henry VIII, as well as other historical artifacts… how cool is that??????

Of course I am also basically just a history nerd in general… American, European, the Ancient societies especially! I just love reading about it, watching movies about it, learning about it! The world has changed soo much it amazes me how society has developed!

Anyway back to the wedding, it was hard getting up esp knowing I had to catch a flight right after… but we had a great albeit sleepy time! We loved watching all the guests come in with their interesting headwear! I am definitely getting a sweet hat for Kathleen’s wedding in July!

something like Posh’s maybe? Ugh Ilove the Beckham’s.. they are so gorgeous!

Or one of these?

Personally I’m a big fan of Princess Eugenie’s also I  think she’s stunning!

she looked stunning!!! She’s so teeny, and she looked like a modern day brunette Grace Kelly!

This bridesmaid dress would definitely be one I would wear!! No justifying a bad dress with “You can shorten it and wear it again”. Pippa looked absolutely amazing in this simple dress by McQueen!

ahhh look at that cheeky grin! I just love him, I think he’s way cuter than Wills, tho I do love him too! Melissa and I kept wanting them all to be miked ala reality TV in order to hear what they were saying, they all looked so cute and comfortable together!

Now my favorite by far was the Queen! She looked so cute in her yellow ensemble… she makes 85 look good!

and of course the world’s favorite moment…..

look at them! so in love… it makes my heart hurt but in a good way! I totally teared up at the beginning of the wedding, it was just so sweet and everytime they looked at each other the look on their faces was one of pure love! I felt that despite the public nature of the wedding and their lives it had a very intimate and personal feel to it! Maybe because Catherine took it very much into her own hands, at least took what she could considering Royal protocol!

Ahh I just love weddings! And now I am at the airport for 10 years! I was going to work out and then go, but was worried about rush hour traffic… whaddya know… there was none!!!!!! Blah maybe I’ll just walk around the terminal several times.. that counts right? A work out probably would have been a bad idea anyways considering I almost fell asleep several times on the drive over here… and I was the driver… :/!

Ok I’m off… to NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!! can you tell I am a bit excited? My friend from HS is having a big 23rd bday party and a few of us are coming up for it/ I get to see all my college friends! yay! I actually have my comp this time so I will be blogging along the way!

What did you think of the Royal Wedding?

Are you a history nerd too?
