About

HOLLA BACK!

Welcome to Eat Drink and Be Sperry!

I decided to start this blog which yes is lucky number 4 because I LOVE food blogs, especially ones that discuss more than food, and the impact these blogs have had on my life made me want to share that with others!

I am a 23 year old SECOND (!!!)  year grad student at the University of Denver! I am studying Sports Psychology and hope to be a consultant for elite level as well as master level athletes. I love sports and have been an athlete in some form or another my entire life! I will often talk about sports here, both from what I am learning, and what I am watching! Unfortunately I went to an undergrad that while renowned academically is not exactly a top sports school (sorry all NYU athletes), so my top College team is KU! Why you ask? Because it was my ideal school pre-NYU! and they have a bomb basketball team! When I finish my masters degree I am planning to pursue a PhD in counseling Psychology!

I was a swimmer my whole life and still love the water! In high school I began to run, and lately running has become my number one hobby, along with Yoga Sculpt. I finished my first half marathon in May, and am now training for the Rock N Roll Half here in Denver on October 9th! I also am an avid spinner and became a certified instructor in 2010! Someday I hope to break into triathalons!

In addition to sports, I am an avid traveler. I moved to London when I was 15 years old, and my parents still live over there! It was a wonderful experience and allowed me to travel to many amazing places! I spent my first year at NYU studying at their campus in Florence, Italy which was one the best years of my life! Italy remains one of my favorite countries, the history, architecture, and of course FOOD.

Atlas Mountains, Morocco                          Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy

Pyramids, Egypt.. yea not my best picture                        Greece!

Namibia, Africa                                                                     Buckingham Palace, London, England

On that note, my number one talent and passion is Food! In college I found my inner Top Chef and began living and breathing cooking and baking! I pour over cookbooks (Dorie Greenspan’s Baking: From My Home to Yours is my favorite) and live on food blogs! I love trying new recipes and thankfully my wonderful classmates and in college my lovely sorority sisters ate anything I made/make up! They are my best critics!

Giant Frying pan!                                          Reeces cake!

Basically Eat, Drink, and be Sperry is a place where I talk about food, fitness and life as I encounter it, adventure by adventure in a ridiculous way! I have a large personality and a (usually) optimistic view on life and the future and hope that will shine through! In addition to all of the above, I am an avid reader and occasional couch potato, whose love of the outdoor battles the love of TV! I hope you enjoy reading about my journey and the silly pictures and hopefully successful and delicious recipes that go with it!

I hope you enjoy my blog, thank you for stopping in!

xxoo

Peace, Love, and Be Sperry

Hey girl, thanks SO much for the fab mint chocolate chip cookies! They are so amazing and chunky and soft :) I really appreciate the work you put into the packaging too! Love this swap, thanks again and so glad it’s led me to your blog! PS I <3 Sperry's :)

  2. Hi Meg! I just got my Secret Santa gift in the mail — thank you SO much for the fun fitness headbands! They’ll keep my hair out of my face during workouts while still looking oh-so-fashionable. The ornament card AND the M&Ms–what a nice holiday treat! Thank you so much; this package made my day =)

In other news… Your blog is fabulous. It sounds like we have a lot in common; I, too, am in grad school and have a passion for food blogs and sports. I’ve studied psychology and always really enjoyed it; I’m constantly seeking more to learn from. Sports psychology sounds like a fascinating discipline and will make for a dynamic profession. Good luck to you!

Thanks again for the holiday goodies; I look forward to following your blog!

    Merry Christmas to you,

    Meredith
